A 6 months, short term assignment to work in Germany from summer to winter of 2008/09.
2008/9 – Aachen
The small city of Aachen where I was based for 6 months. It is less than 5 km to the Belgian and Dutch borders and also known as the the winter capital of Charlemagne, the Holy Roman Emperor from 800 to 814 AD.

2008/2009 – Koln
The fourth largest city in Germany which is 1 hour away from Aachen by train.
2008 – Dusseldorf
The capital city of the state North Rhine-Westphalia which is 90 minutes by train from Aachen and 20 minutes by train to Koln.
2008 – Berlin
The capital of Germany and also the the largest city in Germany. It is where the Berlin Wall, biggest railway station in the whole of Europe, 2006 World Cup Final stadium, German Parliament building, Brandenburg Gate and a lot more are located.
2008 – Munich
The capital city of Bavaria, the largest federal state of Germany by area size. It is also the third most populous city in Germany. Munich is also where the famous Oktoberfest is being held every year for 3 weeks from September to October!
2008 – Heidelberg
Heidelberg is a city in the state of Baden-Württemberg in the Federal Republic of Germany. It’s 5 hours away by train from Aachen. The reason I visited this place was to see the famous Heidelberg Castle.
2008 – Berchtesgaden
Berchtesgaden is a small, picturesque and historic town 1 hour away from Munich. It is also where the deepest lake in the alps is located and surrounded by very steep mountain that raise up 2000 m above the lake level. Hitler’s summer retreat, named the Eagle’s Nest is also nearby.
