Both dive computers have similar functions and features and they are more than enough for my needs.
I’m still contemplating which one I should get for myself. I’m leaned towards the D4 because it was just released earlier this year compared to the 5 year old Stinger. The D4 has twice the dive log memory size compared to the Stinger. However, the downside of D4 is that it’s built from plastic compared to Stinger’s metal, which makes it more stylish.
And the price of Stinger will hurt me RM400 more than the D4.
Oh yeah, the purpose of a dive computer is to calculate the decompression time – the maximum time that a diver can stay in a specified depth. Besides that, they do display some other information like depth, water temperature, clock functionality, compass, etc.

Do you know if D4 doaes have gauge mode? As far as I know Stinger has such a mode. I’m confused if gauge mode and free dive is a same think? I raely like D4 but I need a gauge mode as well. Thanks in advance…
The deep stop function is useful for decompression dives and combined with RGBM or VPM, it reduces bubbles built up in your body on your ascent. Even with typical 25-30M dives, it does help.
Stinger definitely looks better although its quite an old model. I usually dive locally unless I manage to dig out a week or so for overseas trips. Planning for sipadan or anilao next year.
was searching on the internet for comparions on the 2 watches and came across your webbie. am also contemplating to get the stinger or the d4. d4 looks plasticky and cheap, stinger looks fierce and serious. not sure if the deep stop thing is useful in the D4, actually have no idea what’s it for. i’m an AOWD. where do you dive? am looking to widen my dive circle!
have you got your D4 tom? how does it feels like compared to the stinger from your point of view?

Yup..I’ve decided on the D4.
Get the stinger if u want the classic look, D4 if you want to have the latest thing. I m using the stinger, but buying a D4 soon.
