About

5 years ago, someone asked me,

“Have you registered your own domain name?”

I didn’t need to have second thought about it at all and I immediately registered it the day after. That was when this site, www.BernardLoke.com became part of the growing blog communities on the Internet.

The Internet and computer were my best friends during my entire secondary school days right up to today. Some people called me a computer freak (I hate programming), but what they didn’t knew back then was that both the Internet and computer would soon become part of their lives.

I already had ICQ and mIRC installed on my Windows 3.1 back in 1995.

The only difference between us was; I realized this much much earlier. Today, the Internet and computer are part of my lifestyle. They’re no longer my best friends.

I then decided to further my education, studying telecommunications in Multimedia University after finishing high school. When I finished my tertiary studies, the Internet bubble had long burst, and it was swiftly replaced with the mobile revolution.

Everyone was talking about  mobile phones, 3G, SMS, MMS, ringtones, downloads, etc.

Not wanting to be left behind, I started my career when I joined one of the largest telecommunications company, working with mobile networks. It was a good learning opportunity and it brought me to places that I never imagine I would even go myself. It was a great exposure.

Then, when the better opportunity presents itself later, I decided that it was time to move on. Today, I’m attached with the largest telecommunications company out there.

Because of the what I do, I’ve traveled in and around places around Asia and Europe from the day I started out. All these has brought me invaluable life lessons, unforgettable experiences, some regrettable experiences, new acquaintances, experiencing new cultures, and not forgetting, going to interesting places.

During one cold winter night in Pakistan, I realized that life would be very dull and flat with only work, work and work. Even though I was able to go to places some people can only be envy of, life’s still pretty boring to me.

I thought deep and decided to go for what I’ve always wanted to do. I told myself that no time is no longer an acceptable excuse. There’ll be time if things are planned early.

I’ve always wanted to be a certified diver ever since my discover scuba dive a few years back. of course, I was a little nervy during the discover scuba dive. But after I’ve obtained my diving license, the only thing that I think of now is when and where my next diving trip will be.

Scuba diving is one of many things I like.

Photography is another. When I first got my P&S digital camera 6 years ago, I didn’t have a single idea what all those buttons do, and how different settings will influence the photo. All I knew was, point and shoot.

Little did I know that I’ll fall in love with this expensive hobby. When I thought I’ve had enough with my P&S camera, it was time to get a digital SLR. First it was a Canon EOS 300D, then last year, Canon EOS 40D.

Like I said before, photography is expensive, if you love it because your needs will keep growing and growing, while the hole in your pocket is growing as well. Right now, I have a EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 and EF-S 10-22 mm F3.5 - 4.6. EF 70-200mm F4L and EF 135mm F2L is next on the list.

And while scuba diving and photography is already doing a huge damage to my pockets, then came underwater photography. It’s something that I really would love to explore in the very near future.

But for now, I’m still thinking deep how to break the bank for this.

These days I still travel a lot and I’ll continue to do so as long as I’m still loving it. Life’s much more interesting now as I can finally find time to do what I wanted. I take pictures whenever I go, and when I’m back in the country, I’ll dig deep to find some time and organize diving trips for myself.

Some interesting bits about myself :

Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll visit my blog whenever you can.
